Well apparently poking holes in your lungs is cause for "bloodius coughius" or as the doctor calls it "type III pulmonary lacerations"
In other words one of my rib bones is cracked in a way that it is cutting holes in my lung.

And then comes the question.. how and when did I break a rib? I've broken ribs multiple times from sports like snowboarding.
But nothing recently that I can think of

So it looks like I am going to be having surgery... and soon because according to the doctor if air starts to leak out of my lung into my chest cavity (a condition called "pneumothorax") or whatever he called it, will cause my lung to collapse. Which is a possibility if they don't patch me up. Other than that once the rib is out if the way my lung should heal on its own..

Again sorry for any typos. By phone's keypad sucks.

Update- So I  Went in to the hospital this morning because I was suddenly having a hard time breathing, apparently I had somehow collapsed both of the lobes on my left lung. I filled out a million insurance forms and such. They put me under, slapped a band-aid on my chest and woke me up from my nap.. Then when my head was no longer spinning I had to sign a bunch of other papers and get a ride home...
the doctor says "no activity for the next two days and come back in for another checkup on Monday. If all is well than, no stressful activity for the following two weeks" so I can go back to work on Tuesday. Just so long as I am not actually doing manual labor (looks like I'll be stuck in the office for a little while)

Now if it wasn't for the collapsed lung I think I could have just lived with the bloody coughs. because seriously. Coughing up a little blood now and then was a lot better than feeling like I got kicked in the chest and had an anvil dropped on my head.

I wish I had somebody living with me... you know, to fetch me some water... or maybe my laptop... which I can see sitting on just the other side of the room, but this couch is so comfortable right now that I will put up with my cellphone's tiny touch keypad in favor of getting up and crossing the great divide that separates the upholstered sitting bench from my desk ... pretty pathetic huh?

Anyhow thanks for all your support and care for me. looks like I will will get a little time to rest and then I should be as good as new. :-)

again sorry for any typo I might have missed... my laptop is over there... but my phone is right here.
